Evidence for the Strangeness S=+1 Pentaquark from LEPS and CLAS Experiments
نویسنده
چکیده
There are now several experimental collaborations that have seen evidence for a narrow state in the mass spectrum of the (nK) system. Two of these experiments, from the LEPS collaboration in Japan and the CLAS collaboration in the USA, are described briefly. Both use similar photoproduction reactions with a KK pair in the final state. In addition, data from the CLAS collaboration for the γp→ KsK n reaction are presented for the first time, which has no prominant peak in the (nK) mass spectrum when the Ks angle is limited to forward angles.

Have Pentaquark States Been Seen?
The status of the search for pentaquark baryon states is reviewed in light of new results from the first two dedicated experiments from CLAS at Jefferson Lab and of new analyses from several labs on the Θ + (1540). Evidence for and against the heavier pentaquark states, the Ξ(1862) and the Θ 0 c (3100) observed at CERN and at HERA, respectively, are also discussed. I conclude that the evidence ...
متن کاملPentaquark Searches at Cdf * Dmitry O. Litvintsev a (for Cdf Collaboration)
Searches for states, characterized by so-called exotic quantum numbers, i.e., quantum numbers that cannot be obtained from minimal (qq̄) or (qqq) configurations of standard mesons and baryons, have taken place since the introduction of QCD and quark model. Until recently, these searches yielded very little conclusive evidence for such states. During 2003, however, the situation has changed drama...
متن کاملPentaquark states in a chiral potential
We discuss a possible interpretation for the pentaquark baryon Θ which has an exotic quantum number of strangeness S = +1. The role of the pion which modifies the structure of single-particle levels of quarks is examined. When the pion field is sufficiently strong, the ground state of five quarks for Θ acquires positive parity. If this is the case, an excited state may appear slightly above the...
متن کاملEvidence for an Exotic Baryon State, Θ(1540), in Photoproduction Reactions from Protons and Deuterons with CLAS
CLAS photoproduction data on deuterium and hydrogen targets have been analyzed in a search for an exotic baryon state with strangeness S = +1, the Θ (originally named the Z). This resonance was predicted recently in theoretical work based on the chiral soliton model as a lowest mass member of an anti-decuplet of 5-quark states. The reaction γd → pKKn, which requires a final state interaction in...
متن کاملThe Evidence for a Pentaquark Signal and Kinematic Reflections
Several recent experiments have reported evidence for a narrow baryon resonance with positive strangeness (Θ) at a mass of 1.54 GeV/c. Baryons with S = +1 cannot be conventional qqq states and the reports have thus generated much theoretical speculation about the nature of possible S = +1 baryons, including a 5-quark, or pentaquark, interpretation. We show that narrow enhancements in the Kn eff...
